Flick Fashion Overview: Confessions Of A Shopaholic

I've been absent for a few weeks because of health problems but now I feel a little better and thought I would talk to you about what is rapidly becoming in my opinion the best glove movie ever made. I'm talking about "Confessions Of A Shopaholic", starring such Ladies as Isla Fisher, Krysten Ritter, Kristin Scott Thomas and Leslie Bibb. As you would have guessed again, when I'm saying "best glove movie", I'm not talking about the plot or the acting or the directing. I'm talking about fetish content of course. I won't comment on each photo posted here this time as there are too many as you can see but if I had to describe the fashion (and the gloves!) in this movie in one word I would say: colorful! Just click on a few thumbnails and you will see what I mean. Yellow gloves, Blue gloves, orange gloves, purple gloves, gray gloves, black gloves, white gloves... and most of them made of delicious, shiny leather.

You will also see a few beautiful pairs of boots and some glamorous fur coats, particularly Kristin Scott Thomas in thick fur, a Lady that I always found beautiful since I saw her in Four Weddings And A Funeral. You will also notice that most female secondary characters or extras wear something of interest, whether it is fur or boots, but most of the time gloves. In fact, there are so many gloves in this movie that I suspect the costume designer Patricia Field to be a glove lover herself. She has worked on other glove movies or series such as Sex And The City or The Devil Wears Prada so this is a good clue.

Anyway, you can see the pictures and judge by yourself but I highly recommend to rent this movie. I know, it is a typical romantic comedy, thin on plot and a bit shallow overall but the fetish content is really worth it. This movie is a must see for any serious glove fetishist. And the star, Isla Fisher, is absolutely adorable. So, what are you waiting for?

Annie's Glove Drawer: New Acquisitions

Summer is a quiet time for me usually when it comes to gloves. But the cool weather that we experience here in Quebec this year makes me feel like I'm living through a very long fall, wich is like paradise for me. And gloves, boots and furs occupy my mind constantly. As there is nothing in stores right now, I've been very active on the net to add a few great glove models to my collection. I've bought two pairs in the last two weeks and I'm going to briefly introduce them to you. You can see more photos on my flikr page at : www.flickr.com/photos/miladyannie/

I like diversity and style in my wardrobe. I can have a classic look or explore a more marginal and unusual appearance. Both those new pairs of gloves reflect that fashion perspective. I recently bought a nice leather skirt made of black and brown leather and thought it would be nice to have a great looking pair of gloves combining those two great colors that I love so much. I searched on ebay and found this seller named http://www.imakebootsngloves.com/ which happened to carry exactly what I wanted. I just waited for the right price opportunity and here they are. Split Personality, my two-tone pair of opera gloves, are my longest gloves so far. When stretched, they almost reach my shoulder. They fit tightly and feel so comfortable with their thin lycra lining. Their strong smell of brand new leather is mezmerising. Now that I have the right accessory, I must find the right clothes to fit with it. I have my skirt plus a few other ideas in mind.

You know I'm in deep love with leather clothing but I always had an interest for any other material that closely looks like it. For example, latex or vinyl. Those two types of gloves are widely used in the porno industry but we seldom see them in a more glamorous context. Punk and Gothic ladies were probably the firsts to introduce them widely into their wardrobe and I kind of liked their audacity. With that in mind, I tried to search a pair of vinyl gloves that would be long, stylish and of great quality. I've found a maker that does business on ebay, GlovesEU, and bought from him my first pair of black vinyl gloves, which I baptized Underworld Soul. I had them in my mailbox about a week later and I immediately fell in love with them upon opening the package. Thin, soft, glossy, shiny... we can almost see stars in them! Now that this door is wide open, it thrills me to know with certainty I will add more clothes of the same material in my wardrobe.

Flick Fashion Overview: The Women

I've been a bad girl again! Many months have passed and I have not written a word on this blog. But here I am now, in good shape.

You may not have seen this recent Meg Ryan film because it was not very publicized. I watched it two times now and I can say it is far from being the best flick she has played in but it is still watchable. As the title suggest, it is about women, modern upper class ones in fact, dealing with two of the most horrible events life has to offer: adultery and fashion blunders. I'm not going to comment on the plot or the quality of the screenplay or anything of the sort. As I have done in the past, I will simply show you a few shots to highlight the best fashion and fetish moments of the movie.

First, a quick note on Eva Mendes. You know she is absolutely sexy and she proves it again in this movie. She plays a not so smart perfume saleswoman who happens to be the mistress of Steven Haines, husband of Mary Haines, Meg Ryan's character. You will have the joy to see Eva in wild lingerie as she tries on a few things to please her lover on their next meeting, as the first photo shows. What she wears is pretty but what she is physically is breathtaking. I know it is taboo to vow a cult of adoration to laser cut feminine bodies in our society but I won't shy down and pass on this. She is a superb woman and I'm more than happy to say it and show it. There! I feel better already.

Next, Annette Bening, who plays the role of a typical haughty and superficial high class lady, shows us a beautiful oufit composed of a dark moss green skirt, lovely medium brown leather coat and darker leather handbag. This oufit proves that leather can be used in combination of fabrics to achieve a great look too. All leather outfits are what fetishists crave the most but a more subtle or studied matching like we see here can still make a lady look fabulous.
Meg Ryan almost never steals the show in terms of fashion in this movie except for a sequence in which we see her going to a private clinic were her mother rests after a facelift. She wears a long black wool coat with shorter sleeves, a gray skirt and stunning elbow length black leather gloves. With her long blonde straight hair and this killer look, she is so adorable. The gloves are absolutely perfect for this coat. By their look and quality, I would guess they are made of lambskin. See how they reflect the sunlight on the second photo of this set? You cannot hope for anything better in any casual outfit. Pure elegance and class!
Finally, Sylvia Fowler, Annette Bening's character, the infamous rich bitch, is seen gloved and booted. I waited the whole movie with the hope to see that particular character in gloves and my wish was granted. Rich, superficial and haughty women have always caught my attention since I'm little and when they are well gloved, they then become goddesses to me. This character is no exception. Sylvia learns a few lessons that may soften her heart throughout the story but at the end, she still is the rich bitch I long to see each time I watch this kind of movie. Black coat, black suede boots and black leather gloves and she has won my heart. Too bad we don't see her in fur though. That would have made of her a rival in fetish beauty to characters like Alexis Carrington or Krystle Carrington.
One last note on this movie: you won't see one single male character in it other than a newborn child at the end. Not one actor, not one extra... Testosterone zero. I guess it was the best way to totally plunge the viewer in this universe of feminity, visually and psychologically. Now rent it if you liked what you saw here.
