Flick Fashion Overview: Confessions Of A Shopaholic

I've been absent for a few weeks because of health problems but now I feel a little better and thought I would talk to you about what is rapidly becoming in my opinion the best glove movie ever made. I'm talking about "Confessions Of A Shopaholic", starring such Ladies as Isla Fisher, Krysten Ritter, Kristin Scott Thomas and Leslie Bibb. As you would have guessed again, when I'm saying "best glove movie", I'm not talking about the plot or the acting or the directing. I'm talking about fetish content of course. I won't comment on each photo posted here this time as there are too many as you can see but if I had to describe the fashion (and the gloves!) in this movie in one word I would say: colorful! Just click on a few thumbnails and you will see what I mean. Yellow gloves, Blue gloves, orange gloves, purple gloves, gray gloves, black gloves, white gloves... and most of them made of delicious, shiny leather.

You will also see a few beautiful pairs of boots and some glamorous fur coats, particularly Kristin Scott Thomas in thick fur, a Lady that I always found beautiful since I saw her in Four Weddings And A Funeral. You will also notice that most female secondary characters or extras wear something of interest, whether it is fur or boots, but most of the time gloves. In fact, there are so many gloves in this movie that I suspect the costume designer Patricia Field to be a glove lover herself. She has worked on other glove movies or series such as Sex And The City or The Devil Wears Prada so this is a good clue.

Anyway, you can see the pictures and judge by yourself but I highly recommend to rent this movie. I know, it is a typical romantic comedy, thin on plot and a bit shallow overall but the fetish content is really worth it. This movie is a must see for any serious glove fetishist. And the star, Isla Fisher, is absolutely adorable. So, what are you waiting for?

Annie's Glove Drawer: New Acquisitions

Summer is a quiet time for me usually when it comes to gloves. But the cool weather that we experience here in Quebec this year makes me feel like I'm living through a very long fall, wich is like paradise for me. And gloves, boots and furs occupy my mind constantly. As there is nothing in stores right now, I've been very active on the net to add a few great glove models to my collection. I've bought two pairs in the last two weeks and I'm going to briefly introduce them to you. You can see more photos on my flikr page at : www.flickr.com/photos/miladyannie/

I like diversity and style in my wardrobe. I can have a classic look or explore a more marginal and unusual appearance. Both those new pairs of gloves reflect that fashion perspective. I recently bought a nice leather skirt made of black and brown leather and thought it would be nice to have a great looking pair of gloves combining those two great colors that I love so much. I searched on ebay and found this seller named http://www.imakebootsngloves.com/ which happened to carry exactly what I wanted. I just waited for the right price opportunity and here they are. Split Personality, my two-tone pair of opera gloves, are my longest gloves so far. When stretched, they almost reach my shoulder. They fit tightly and feel so comfortable with their thin lycra lining. Their strong smell of brand new leather is mezmerising. Now that I have the right accessory, I must find the right clothes to fit with it. I have my skirt plus a few other ideas in mind.

You know I'm in deep love with leather clothing but I always had an interest for any other material that closely looks like it. For example, latex or vinyl. Those two types of gloves are widely used in the porno industry but we seldom see them in a more glamorous context. Punk and Gothic ladies were probably the firsts to introduce them widely into their wardrobe and I kind of liked their audacity. With that in mind, I tried to search a pair of vinyl gloves that would be long, stylish and of great quality. I've found a maker that does business on ebay, GlovesEU, and bought from him my first pair of black vinyl gloves, which I baptized Underworld Soul. I had them in my mailbox about a week later and I immediately fell in love with them upon opening the package. Thin, soft, glossy, shiny... we can almost see stars in them! Now that this door is wide open, it thrills me to know with certainty I will add more clothes of the same material in my wardrobe.

Flick Fashion Overview: The Women

I've been a bad girl again! Many months have passed and I have not written a word on this blog. But here I am now, in good shape.

You may not have seen this recent Meg Ryan film because it was not very publicized. I watched it two times now and I can say it is far from being the best flick she has played in but it is still watchable. As the title suggest, it is about women, modern upper class ones in fact, dealing with two of the most horrible events life has to offer: adultery and fashion blunders. I'm not going to comment on the plot or the quality of the screenplay or anything of the sort. As I have done in the past, I will simply show you a few shots to highlight the best fashion and fetish moments of the movie.

First, a quick note on Eva Mendes. You know she is absolutely sexy and she proves it again in this movie. She plays a not so smart perfume saleswoman who happens to be the mistress of Steven Haines, husband of Mary Haines, Meg Ryan's character. You will have the joy to see Eva in wild lingerie as she tries on a few things to please her lover on their next meeting, as the first photo shows. What she wears is pretty but what she is physically is breathtaking. I know it is taboo to vow a cult of adoration to laser cut feminine bodies in our society but I won't shy down and pass on this. She is a superb woman and I'm more than happy to say it and show it. There! I feel better already.

Next, Annette Bening, who plays the role of a typical haughty and superficial high class lady, shows us a beautiful oufit composed of a dark moss green skirt, lovely medium brown leather coat and darker leather handbag. This oufit proves that leather can be used in combination of fabrics to achieve a great look too. All leather outfits are what fetishists crave the most but a more subtle or studied matching like we see here can still make a lady look fabulous.
Meg Ryan almost never steals the show in terms of fashion in this movie except for a sequence in which we see her going to a private clinic were her mother rests after a facelift. She wears a long black wool coat with shorter sleeves, a gray skirt and stunning elbow length black leather gloves. With her long blonde straight hair and this killer look, she is so adorable. The gloves are absolutely perfect for this coat. By their look and quality, I would guess they are made of lambskin. See how they reflect the sunlight on the second photo of this set? You cannot hope for anything better in any casual outfit. Pure elegance and class!
Finally, Sylvia Fowler, Annette Bening's character, the infamous rich bitch, is seen gloved and booted. I waited the whole movie with the hope to see that particular character in gloves and my wish was granted. Rich, superficial and haughty women have always caught my attention since I'm little and when they are well gloved, they then become goddesses to me. This character is no exception. Sylvia learns a few lessons that may soften her heart throughout the story but at the end, she still is the rich bitch I long to see each time I watch this kind of movie. Black coat, black suede boots and black leather gloves and she has won my heart. Too bad we don't see her in fur though. That would have made of her a rival in fetish beauty to characters like Alexis Carrington or Krystle Carrington.
One last note on this movie: you won't see one single male character in it other than a newborn child at the end. Not one actor, not one extra... Testosterone zero. I guess it was the best way to totally plunge the viewer in this universe of feminity, visually and psychologically. Now rent it if you liked what you saw here.

Flick Fashion Overview: Yes Man

I've been a bad girl. When I began this blog, I was motivated and willing to post regularly but it's been a few months now without any sign of life from me. I want to say I'm sorry to those who have been following this site. I'll try my best to do better in the upcoming weeks, starting now.

I guess that talking and reading about gloves, boots, fur, leather and fashion in movies is always entertaining for fetishists and that's why I'm going to do it here within a serie of posts named Flick Fashion Overview. My first one will target the movie Yes Man with Jim Carrey. I saw this one last night and was in very good mood after it, not because of its comic content and Carrey's annoying funny faces, but because of the lovely Zooey Deschanel and the wardrobe they have created for her character. I've posted some pictures so you can also appreciate it.

Zooey's character, Allison, is an excentric, artistic girl who likes to live her life fully. She rides in Los Angeles on her scooter, going from one place to another, one moment doing gigs with her weird band the Munchausen By Proxy or the other giving photo courses to her group of joggers. In the first five photos posted, we see her arriving at a gas station on her ride, where she will meet Carl, Jim Carrey's character. The first thing we notice about her outfit is her cute brown leather boots ornated with a belt and buckle. Those are what is called wedge boots, with a thick sole and no distinctive heel. They may not be of the usual high heel style but still grab the attention, as well as what Allison is wearing on her hands to protect them from the cool air while she rides. Photos two and three show the girl removing her funny helmet and gives us the opportunity to take a closer look at her gloves: thick burgundy leather gloves with classic triple sewn lines on the back and belt/buckle at the wrist. Those lined gloves seems comfortable for the wearer, ideal for sports and outdoor activities, but still probably very soft to the touch. And at last, Allison's jacket, made of shiny black PVC and ornated with big round buttons. She simply looks yummy in it. Photos four and five show Zooey's long brown hair falling on her shoulders covered in shiny PVC and it is absolutely breathtaking to me. What a look.

Later in the movie, Allison is shown performing with her band. Her sexy moves and attitude will grab your attention as long as the boots she wears for that occasion. Unfortunately, no close shots of them were taken so I just posted here the two best images available. Light brown leather, knee high, thick heels and pirate-style with a leather flap at the top of the shaft wich can be worn folded as shown or unfolded to get an over-the-knee effect (too bad we don't see this). Those boots are a perfect match for her sand colored sleeveless light dress that covers her delicious and fragile body.

Next scene is the best part of the movie. After a boring geek party at Carl's friend, the couple escape into the night and break into the Hollywood Bowl for some alone time and a romantic moment. We again see Allison's brown wedge boots while she climbs a fence but more important is what she has on her hands this time. Photos eight, nine and ten will show you the details. Yes, you are seeing right: lovely deep brown mid-arm lenght leather gloves. My favorite color! Those seems so soft, so comfy, and a perfect choice to go along the boots and the PVC jacket. And on top of that, what's better in a movie than a kissing scene with a cute gloved Lady, involving good close shots of her gloved hands? Absolutely nothing.

The last scene of interest doesn't show any gloves but introduces to us another beautiful outfit mainly composed of a pretty deep blue coat with red stripes and shiny silver buttons. I noticed this coat because it is cute and also because it admirably shapes Zooey's body. To go with it, a pair of short black leather boots, again decorated with belts and buckles.

So, to end this post, I would definitely recommend you go rent this movie as soon as possible. Rent it in Blu-ray if you can to get the most out of the fashion scenes. If you can withstand Carrey's humor, you will get quite a treat watching the adorable and huggable Zooey Deschanel. Satisfaction guaranteed here.

Colors! Lovely Lively Gloves In Fashion (Part II)

Now that we have explored some of the simplest ways to match a pretty pair of colored leather gloves with a given outfit, lets explore more complexes or daring approaches to achieve killer looks.

First of all, to better understand how colors are related to one another, take a look at my Glove Matching Wheel picture ahead of this post. Twelve colors are represented on this wheel. Three of them, identified by a "1" are primary colors. Red, blue and yellow are the only three colors that cannot be created by mixing any other colors and thus, are called primary. Then, you will find three other colors, identified by a "2": violet, green and orange. Those are called secondary colors because they can be obtained by mixing primary colors together. And finally, six other colors, each identified by a "3" on the wheel, are called tertiary because they are the result of a mix between a primary color and a secondary color.

Now that we know how a basic color wheel is created, lets explore some links or matches between these colors. The first one is called the analogous match because, as you may have guessed, it involves colors that are closely related to one another on the wheel. It is obtained when we associate a primary color (1) and a secondary color (2) which are both adjacent on the color wheel. For example, take a look at the first photo shown in this post (sorry for the low quality in this one). The lonely lady at the corner of this dark street wears long red leather gloves to go with her violet wool dress. In the color wheel, that shade of violet is a secondary color (2) for the red (1) wich is a primary. Of course, we can also match gloves that are of a secondary color to an outfit or any garment of a primary color like in the second photo (short fushia gloves with red skirt). You can also go a little further and use tertiary colors to create fabulous looks. The third and fourth photos show us how to play with greens, blues and violets to attain originality and elegance. But overall, those analogous color associations are probably the easiest to make and will help you match beautifully colored gloves with many clothes in your wardrobe without making strong waves but by still saying you want to be noticed and complimented.

For those who want to make a stronger statement, you can choose to match your gloves using complementary colors. Those are opposite to one another on the glove color wheel and usually create stunning visual shows when paired together. A few examples will immediately help you understand what I mean. Take a close look at the three next photos and try to figure them out using the glove color wheel. Got them right? The orange gloves in the 5th photo are complementary to the light blue sweater, the bright yellow gloves with flared cuffs are complementary to the violet wool dress in the 6th photo and the grape and light tan colored gloves are complementary of course to the mustard coat in the 7th photo. As you can see, primary, secondary or tertiary colors can be used for these matches. Of course, you won't be arrested if you slightly bend the rule and go with colors that are not exactly opposite. The two last photos are absolute proof to that, showing yellow green clothes and furs wildly married with superb deep red gloves, pink gloves or even orange gloves.

How original and daring can things get now? Your imagination is the limit. Don't fear to try new combinations using the matching techniques shown in this post and the previous one. Depending on your personality and style, you will certainly find very fun ways to wear your colored gloves. So, for heaven's sake, don't let them rot at the bottom of your drawer!
